Queensland Maple
Queenlsand maple is a large evergreen introduced around 1935. The tree grows to around 70 feet in height and 3 feet in diameter. The wood, sometimes called silkwood because of it's resemblance to silk, has a pink sapwood and a beautiful pale brown heartwood. The wood is lightweight and works easily. It is an excellent cabietwood, a favorite in Austrailia, and has been used in Hawaii for furniture, boats, floors, cabinets and a variety of other construction purposes.
Queensland Maple is stocked in 4/4 and 8/4 thickness and retails for $3.25 a board foot.
